Threadgill, Moran, Cruz conversation

On a Threadgill binge... Pulling this quote out to pin on the wall:

When you're talking about the [map? life? math?] of any black artist... especially ones who have come before and have established the ground work for black literature or poetry, or music, what have you... they did not just use black material as the basis for the intelligentsia... to inform them... one has to come to be aware of what information is in the world today. And this is what made these people who they were, but this is what made them great. And this is what made their art world music, or world art... it's because they were able to tap into the latest and most advanced information on the planet.
